The Dia De Los Muertos Selvedge is a 12.5oz Japanese selvedge denim, intricately crafted to celebrate the vibrant Mexican 'Day of the Dead' tradition. This denim is woven on vintage shuttle looms in Okayama, Japan, using rope dyed short slub yarns. This technique imparts an uneven surface texture and color tone to the fabric, which, over time, will develop high-contrast vertical fades as the indigo fades away. In keeping with its celebration of Mexican culture, this denim is made from 100% Mexican upland cotton. The selvedge ID mirrors the colorful stripes found in traditional Mexican sarape blankets, adding a touch of authenticity and cultural homage. Furthermore, the jeans feature a vegetable-tanned leather patch and pocket flasher, beautifully embellished with artwork by José Ruiz, aka Koopa, a distinguished tattoo artist from Mexico City. His artwork, depicting skeletons adorning a traditional altar, masterfully captures the symbolic spirit of the Day of the Dead. Completing the design, the jeans are accentuated with contrast stitching, and silver metallic buttons and rivets.
The Classic is a straight fit; high rise, fitted around the hips, fuller in the thigh that falls to a wide leg opening.
