One of my clients is a long term kimono collector who occasionally edits their collection and I am the lucky girl who gets to have first pick! They have been collecting for years and years so the pieces are ones you rarely, if ever even get to see anymore! This is an early Japanese, made for the tourist market, crepe silk kimono. Hand screened with hauntingly beautiful floral motifs. Each design is also hand detailed with gold paint. The print is a stunning vibrant palette of muted ocean greens, pinks and deep corals. There are fantastic to wear at home, as a light evening topper or even as a dress if you add a silk slip under it and a sash! Excellent condition
Shoulders: 24" from seam to seam
Bust: 23" from side seam to side seam, and continuing to bottom hem
Total length: 55" shoulder to bottom hem
Sleeves: 12" from shoulder seam to longest point with a 22" drop
The kimono is fully lined with red cotton in the sleeves, a solid silk through the body and a cream cotton through the upper half. It has no closures It is in excellent shape overall with some minor areas that look like old water marks here and there. I do not feel like these distract. Please do remember these were worn and loved so have a natural patina and should not be expected to be perfect! It is after all almost 100 years old!
